Many are working around the clock, making sure the facility is ready for its grand opening. Mike Reilly is working extra hours this weekend making sure the restaurant, bar, and gift shop is ready for take off, when the new Byron Dorgan Terminal opens on Tuesday.

Mike Reilly/ Oakwell Commuter Rail : "Once they come through security and sit down, eat, have a beverage before they get on there flight."

Over the next two days workers will be moving equipment and tying up loose ends at the new 22.5 million dollar terminal. There is some remaining electrical work and T-S-A security equipment which will have to be installed tomorrow night.

Patrick Dame / Executive Director GFK: "Once we get done screening passengers we will start moving that equipment over to this building."

Executive Director of the Airport Authority Patrick Dam says he expects to lose sleep over the next few days to make sure terminal transition has a smooth landing. Dame says passengers will quickly notice new conveniences such as a full service bar, digital signs throughout the airport, and a unique gift shop.

Reilly: "I can tell you that it will be unlike anything anyone has seen in North Dakota, As far as the product offering and the merchandise mix and what is available for people."

What passengers will not see, is how much more efficient the new terminal will be with energy saving methods such as geo-thermal heating and cooling.

Dame : " We anticipate this facility to cost about the same amount to run as the old facility and it's twice the size."

Because of all the changes in place at the new terminal. Dame is asking for passenger patience. And for now to arrive at least an hour and a half before your flight. Allegiant Airlines just announced nonstop flights from Grand Forks to Orlando starting in November.
