NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) — A new health center being built in New Town for the Three Affiliated Tribes is nearly finished.
Project manager Jim Foote tells the Minot Daily News that 80 percent of the Elbowoods Memorial Health Center is done and just some finishing touches remain.
The new 43,000-square-foot health center for the Fort Berthold Reservation replaces the existing Minne-Tohe Health Center west of New Town. It's not a hospital, but it will eventually provide 24/7 emergency care.
Workers broke ground in October 2009 for the $20 million facility, which is being built north of Fort Berthold Community College.
Plans are for staff from Minne-Tohe to begin seeing patients in the new health center in mid- to late October
