Watery mess causes headache for two businessesFargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Workers at Fargo's Dakota Center building had quite the watery mess coming in to work this morning.
Workers at Fargo's Dakota Center building had quite the watery mess coming in to work this morning. Broken plumbing sent gallons of water gushing in to two downtown businesses, causing one to shut down for the day.
It was about 2:30 AM when overnight workers at a business above State Bank and Trust noticed the pipe break. When clean-up crews got on the scene they discovered quite the mess. Fire crews say the water was coming from broken plumbing in the bathroom on the second floor. The water caused heavy damage to at least 2 business in the building, causing State Bank and Trust to shut down for the day.
Dan Nelson – State Bank and Trust: "I’ve seen water damage. No a huge surprise other than when I got the call it was, ‘It’s not pretty’ which is true.
Ceiling tiles and carpet were destroyed in State Bank and Trust. Some computers and other electronics were lost to; State Bank didn't have a number but says the damage is in the thousands.
Dan Nelson: "You know the one thing that we do have is, the vault and our safety deposit box are at this location were untouched by water. So everything is fine."
Fire crews had to stop the break using a wooden plug because the water shut of valve was rusted so bad it wouldn't turn Nelson says he expects the bank to be closed Saturday as well, possibly in to early next week until the full extent of the damage is really known.
The business above State Bank and Trust, Restaurant Technology Services also spent the day drying water from the carpet. If you need to get in to your safety deposit box at the bank you are asked to contact State Bank and Trust.
