STANLEY, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a motorcyclist and his passenger were killed Tuesday after the cycle rear-ended a semitrailer in Mountrail County, in northwest North Dakota.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the 67-year-old rider and his 68-year-old female passenger from Moline, Mich., died in the crash shortly after 12 p.m. Their names have not been released.

Troopers say the semi was traveling from Stanley on U.S. Highway 2 and its driver slowed down and signaled to make a turn en route to a gravel pit. The patrol says the motorcycle braked and rear-ended the semi.

The 46-year-old driver of the semi was not injured.
