(WDAY Sports) - Fargo native Chris Coste says he's retiring from professional baseball. Coste played his last Major League game for the Houston Astros in 2009.

He had Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow last year and hoped to attempt a pro comeback this season, but that's not happening.

Instead, he'll be returning to Concordia this spring as the team's assistant coach. Coste played four seasons in the big leagues from 2006 to 2009, winning a world series ring with the Phillies in 2008.
