What a great turnout this afternoon for Salvation Army's special haircut day. The local charity teamed up with Josef's School of Hair Design in providing free haircuts to more than 200 children whose families may not be able to afford the cost on their own. 100 students and 10 instructors volunteered their time to snip and clip kids' hair. Salvation Army was able to determine what families were in need of the service. Many were made aware of it during the recent backpack giveaway. The salon, along with the charity says the stylists and the children benefit from the random act of kindness.

Captain Bill Mealy – Salvation Army: “A lot of the kids don't have the opportunity and this is a chance to reach out to them and give them a new look and attitude and self worth.”

This is the first year Salvation Army teamed up with a salon to give the haircuts.
