ST. PAUL — Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered that the flags be lowered at state and federal buildings on Monday in remembrance of a Navy SEAL from Minnesota who was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

John Weston Faas, 31, a 1998 graduate of Minnehaha Academy High School, was among 30 U.S. troops killed when their helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan on Aug. 6. Funeral services for Faas, who earned several medals, including a Bronze Star, will be on Monday.

Also killed in the crash was Nicholas Spehar, 24, of Chisago City, whose parents were from Duluth. Flags across the state were lowered in Spehar's honor on Friday.
