A local man convicted of murder will not have his case re-opened. The Supreme Court says bible stories told in the Dennis Gaede murder trial aren't reason enough for a new trial. Gaede complained in closing arguments both lawyers mentioned the bible story of Judas' betrayal of Jesus. The high court said biblical stories can be improper, but in Gaede's case attornies were just using it to make a point. Gaede was convicted in 2001 of killing Timothy Wicks in his home in Gardner, North Dakota.
