FARGO, N.D. (AP) — U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer says the opening of a new high school in North Dakota will help keep history alive.
Judge Ronald N. Davies High School is being dedicated this weekend in Fargo. It is named after the former federal judge who issued rulings in 1957 that forced the start of integration at Central High School in Little Rock, Ark.
Breyer tells The Forum newspaper (http://bit.ly/pItGPi) that those rulings started the process of bringing equality to education — a process that continues today. He calls Davies a pioneer.
The school named in honor of him is being dedicated Sunday. Breyer is one of the scheduled speakers.
