Crookston, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Gripping testimony at the trial of Thomas Fairbanks, the man accused of murder in the death of Mahnomen Deputy Christopher Dewey.

The officer who shot Fairbanks testified he found his partner, Deputy Dewey, in the snow outside Fairbanks' trailer home in Mahnomen, wounded and struggling to get up.

Deputy Chad Peterson had to gather himself at times as he talked of the shooting in the early morning hours February 18th, 2009.

Dewey's wife Emily testified Wednesday about how hard it was to see her husband die last summer, 18 months after he was shot.

Fairbanks could face life in prison if convicted.
