A controversial construction project in Barnesville is almost complete. The more than $2 million phase 1 construction project revamping Front Street is finished. Only a third of the town paid special assessments for the project. Many believed the whole town should have paid. The road had not been re done since the 1930's. New sidewalks, pavement, street lights and brand new city utilities highlighted the project. City leaders say the street is the life of the community.
Mike Rietz – Barnesville City Adminstrator: “This is our main route. This is our commercial corridor, that's the important thing, is that we are re opening the corridor that our businesses use, its their life blood.”
Phase 2 of the project, the south part of Front Street is set to be done by September.
