The Fargo Forum reports (http://bit.ly/r9a2nM) that the deluge sparked a flash flood warning.
The National Weather Service says one resident measured 6.5 inches of rain in Hankinson at around 11 a.m., while a trained weather spotter reported 3.2 inches of rain 10 miles northeast in Mantador.
Roads such as County Road 3 were temporarily under water after the storm.
The weather service says the heaviest rain fell from Stiles and Hankinson to the South Dakota border.
