MOORHEAD – Police say a 47-year-old Fargo woman could face an arson charge after she allegedly set fire to her ex-boyfriend’s bed in Moorhead.
Moorhead officers were dispatched at 6:51 p.m. Sunday to 630 10th St. N. after a tenant complained that his apartment had been ransacked and his bed mattress was smoldering, Lt. Tory Jacobson said.
Firefighters extinguished the mattress fire.
The tenant told police he suspected his ex-girlfriend, who had previously lived in the apartment, was responsible, Jacobson said.
Fargo police later arrested the woman on Cass County warrants, he said.
Authorities believe a 9-volt battery found in the woman’s possession had been removed from the smoke alarm in the Moorhead apartment, he said.
The incident remains under investigation. Police will forward their reports to the Clay County Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges, including a possible arson charge, Jacobson said.
