Hundreds of people packed the Fargodome for the first distribution of the United Way School Supply Drive. The non-profit distributed backpacks filled with school supplies, collected through the annual drive.

More than three thousand backpacks were given away, shy of the goal of 4,500. People lined up hours before doors opened to get a backpack.

Courtney Jones – United Way Community Outreach – “I got here around about 6:30 this morning and there were already people lined up past the dome out that direction and we opened the doors just before eight o’clock and kind of just opened the flood gates and let people start coming up to get backpacks and its actually going really smoothly this morning.”

The next distribution day is Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at Concordia College Memorial Auditorium. You can still drop off backpacks and supplies through next week.
