FARGO – The Flag fired morning-show host Bruce Kelly today after his final broadcast for the station.
Kelly, who moved to Fargo-Moorhead in late 2009 to take over the morning slot at WZFG 1100 AM, said he was told by station management after his show on Friday he was being let go due to budget cuts.
He wasn’t told what the news-talk station plans to do with the time slot he held from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.
“I’m obviously out of the loop,” he said.
A phone message left this morning for Breck Von Bank, vice president of sales and operations, was not returned. Her voice mail message said she’s out of the office until Monday.
Kelly was also vice president of programming for the four Fargo-area stations, including The Flag, owned by Great Plains Integrated Marketing.
The termination marked a second recent change in on-air talent for a morning show in the station group.
Paul Bougie was fired about two weeks ago from hosting the morning show on The Thunder 106.1 FM, Kelly said.
A Facebook message sent to Bougie earlier today has not been returned yet.
