The water-logged roads in rural Barnes County are usually a spring flooding problem. But this year, contractors have been hired to come in and raise some roads that are used often, but have been under because of heavy rains. East and West roads into Sanborn have been cut-off, making it hard for EMS and law enforcement to patrol and respond to 911 calls.

Randy McClaflin – Barnes County Sheriff: “Here in Sanborn there is a siding for the rains and that blocks those and many back roads are under because of high water and hard for the fire departments to get out or deputies to get in so it is a very big concern.”

McClaflin says the townships make sure the sheriff's departments know when their roads go under.
