ROSEVILLE, Minn. (AP) — A police standoff with a suicidal man at a Roseville hotel ended peacefully, but not before more than 100 guests were evacuated.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Roseville police received word late Saturday night of a 34-year-old St. Paul man threatening suicide at an area hotel

Authorities say that before making contact with the man at the Residence Inn, they learned he had a military background and may have been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Police asked guests in 50 hotel rooms to evacuate. When officers confronted the man, he barricaded himself in his hotel room.

He eventually peacefully surrendered to SWAT team negotiators at about 2 a.m. He was transported to a hospital.
