MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is planning to provide more than 1,650 mobile homes to meet the demand for disaster housing in Minot and the smaller neighboring city of Burlington.

The two communities were devastated by Souris River flooding this summer.

About 600 of the homes are planned for a 210-acre site on the east side of Minot. The Minot Daily News reports they should all be ready by the end of September, and FEMA will move in residents in groups of 50.

About 50 homes will be available next month on a 10-acre plot near Burlington.

Locations for other homes are still being determined. Many will be placed on private lots.
