American Crystal Sugar is in its fifth day of operation after the labor dispute lock out. Vice President Brian Ingulsrud says all of the new replacement workers are on the job. He says new workers will be going through training sessions and seminars to become more familiar with plant operations. Since harvesting has not yet started workers will be learning mostly packaging and shipping duties for now. Ingulsrud says things have been running smoothly so far.
Brian Ingulsrud – Vice President: “There is all kinds of classes that were putting them through, a lot of training, we want to make sure that they are able to work safe first and foremost and so that's a big focus in the training.”
Although production is not in full gear as of now, Ingulsrud says its because of a slow growing crop ... not the new employees. In the mean time the 1,300 workers continue to be locked out and are picketing American Crystals plants.
