Murder trial jury selection taking longer than expected

Crookston, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Jury selection is slow-going at the murder trial of Thomas Fairbanks in Crookston. After two days of interviews, only two jurors have been picked.

A Crookston woman was struck from the jury pool for drug and drunk driving convictions. The defense objected since the woman is Hispanic and they believe racial issues will be brought up during the trial.

Fairbanks is charged with murdering Mahnomen county sheriffs deputy Christopher Dewey. Dewey was shot during a standoff in 2009 and died last August.
