MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The company that installed the new $18 million roof at the Metrodome in Minneapolis has met the deadline that earns it a $500,000 bonus.

Birdair Inc., of New York, has met the Aug. 1 deadline for finishing the job. Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission executive director Bill Lester says the company met the "completion requirement."

The project's total cost approached $23 million, mostly covered by insurance. The old roof was torn open by a blizzard last winter.

The Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/qbDuae ) says new turf will be installed this month after the old Sportexe carpet was damaged by water.
