Family and friends will remember him as a giving father and grandfather. Many of us will know his name and his generosity. Fred Scheel has died. He was 90. The World War Two Veteran is also the name behind one of the most successful businesses in the upper Midwest, Scheel's, an empire that started in 1902 in Sabin.

But for many years, Fred Scheel not only was a successful businessman, but he was an outstanding photographer. Training with the finest, and traveling the world. The family recently donated some of his photographs to the Plains Art Museum.

Colleen Sheehy – Plains Art Museum: “His photos show very keen sensibility for the beauty of the world and order of the world and could get a beautiful portrait of young people cultures he traveled the world.”

The funeral for Fred Scheel is set for this Thursday at 1:30 at Fargo's First Lutheran Church on Broadway.
