Torrential rains pounded Finley, North Dakota this morning. About 6 inches. Two people are lucky to be alive after their car was swept off the road.

We’re here on highway 32, just a few miles South of Finley. Water was so high on this road after the rain it swept a car in to the ditch. The Finley fire department had to rescue the two people inside.

Kevin Corey – Finley Fire Department: "I strapped a rope around me. Two guys held on to that while I went down to the car and I had the two guys get out of the car and used the rope to get back to the rescue truck."

Neither person was injured and water has receded off of the road. In town the city says it had reports of at least a dozen people with water seepage in their basement.

Michelle Machart – Finley Homeowner: "My husband got up and he said he could hear the sump pumps running and it wasn't too bad he first time I go down. But every time I go down there it was a little bit worse."

Sump Pumps still run around town. More rain added to an already saturated ground.
