UND selected to research turbine technology
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The U.S. Energy Department has selected the University of North Dakota and eight other schools to conduct research on "clean" turbine technology.
The U.S. Energy Department has selected the University of North Dakota and eight other schools to conduct research on "clean" turbine technology.
The agency says UND will receive $480,000 for the research aimed at studying the clean and efficient operation of turbines using fuels derived from coal.
The UND project involves testing coatings on turbine parts that are susceptible to corrosion from the fuels.
Other universities conducting research are in California, Connecticut, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas.
