Body found in Stearns County lake

PAYNESVILLE, Minn. (AP) — Stearns County sheriff's deputies are investigating after the body of a 73-year-old man was found in a county lake.

The sheriff's office says deputies were called about 6 p.m. Wednesday to Eden Lake Township, which is about 4.5 miles east of Paynesville on Rice Lake.

The caller said her husband had gone down to the lake to pull out a dock, but she was no longer able to see him. When Paynesville police went to check it out, they found a man unresponsive in the water next to a boat lift.

Sheriff's deputies and the Ramsey County medical examiner's office are investigating. The identity of the man was not immediately released.
