Girl clinging to tree rescued from Sauk River

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — Eight people are safe after getting into trouble while tubing on the fast-moving Sauk River in St. Cloud.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — Eight people are safe after getting into trouble while tubing on the fast-moving Sauk River in St. Cloud.

One teenage girl was found clinging to a tree Tuesday in a rocky stretch of high water. She told rescuers on shore that several others were in her party.

A passing kayaker was able to stop and hold onto the girl. St. Cloud firefighters launched a boat and were able to rescue the girl.

St. Cloud Police Sgt. Lloyd Orth tells the St. Cloud Times (http://bit.ly/rmBhsd ) there were eight people in the party.

No one was hurt. A flood warning has been issued for the Sauk River in St. Cloud that goes until Sunday.
