$21M power line project to begin in southeast ND

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Work is to begin this week on a $21 million electrical transmission line and substation in southeast North Dakota.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Work is to begin this week on a $21 million electrical transmission line and substation in southeast North Dakota.

Montana-Dakota Utilities says it's launching construction after getting approval for the route from state regulators last week. The line will connect a wind farm proposed by enXco (en-EX'-koh) in McIntosh and Dickey counties to the Midwest power grid.

MDU says the transmission line will extend about 30 miles from Ellendale to the proposed wind farm. The line is expected to be in place early next year.

enXco has received all the permits it needs for the wind farm but is trying to resolve a legal dispute with Xcel Energy, which dropped out of the project earlier this year.
