Dehydration is a worry in this heatThe intense heat and high humidity had more people looking for ways to cool off.
Elks Pool in Grand Forks had a busy weekend. As the heat index creeped past one-hundred degrees, lifeguards were on the lookout for anyone, dehydrated. Guards go through the locker rooms after every shift to make sure everyone is ok. Staff makes frequent announcements to remind swimmers to drink plenty of water. Amanda Frank from the Elks Pool says, "For the signs, it's just basically if people are laying motionless, or sweating uncontrollably. So we just kind of walk around the deck to make sure everyone is looking okay." You're advised to drink plenty of water, limit time outdoors, and stay in the shade.
