Street Fair Heats Up

FARGO, ND (WDAY-TV) Cloud cover may have kept us from soaring into the upper 90's this afternoon, but that doesn't mean it wasn't another humid, miserable day outside.

Cloud cover may have kept us from soaring into the upper 90's this afternoon, but that doesn't mean it wasn't another humid, miserable day outside. But for those who went to the street fair, there were plenty of options to cool down.

They came by the thousands. Hot, sweaty, and thirsty. It's no surprise that smoothie and lemonade stands are among the most visited on days like today.

David Garcia – Lemonade Stand Worker – “When it's hotter we'll do more business and when its sunny as well too. People tend to get thirsty when it's super hot out.”

Some cool drinks might cost a small fortune, but by far the most popular stop today was free, the F-M ambulance cooling tent.

George Mihlbauer – Street Fair Volunteer – “People that like it cool, on Thursday it was nice for them and then if you want it hotter just come each day, it gets hotter as it goes.”

Although temperatures didn't get as high as they could've, the humidity still made for a very sticky day.

Kevan Sanders – Street Fair Visitor – “Oh it's pretty bad out there, not much of breeze and its tough.”

Steph Holland – Street Fair Coordinator – “It's a little humid, but when that breeze comes it feels good.”

Some took advantage of the shade, but most braved the temperatures as they warmed up during the late afternoon. Everywhere you looked, shirts were drenched, but by time temperatures actually peak during this heat wave, the fair will be long gone. Fair officials estimate over 130-thousand people came out this year.
