Local lawmakers are impressed by this compromise on the controversial. They call it a game changer.

Fellow democrats are praising Governor Dayton. They say by him giving into Republican's and their plans, it shows he's a true leader. Dayton is putting the state above partisan politics. It was the first, second, or third choice for the governor. In fact, Republicans offered this deal on the last day of the legislative session. The plan will soften extreme cuts to rural Minnesota. Dilworth Representative Paul Marquart calls this a very significant compromise.

Rep. Paul Marquart – DFL Dilworth: β€œHe's campaigned for governor on the idea of taxing the very wealthy, asking them to pay their fair share. He's having to give that up and that's very painful for him, but that's statesmanship and that's what we're looking at the governor to do so I've been impressed. I was kind of surprised.”

Marquart calls it a win - win for the state. That 500 million dollar bonding bill will put people to work on construction projects. Marquart says the GOP supported that behind the scenes.
