Breaking concrete is causing problemsThe hot temperatures are causing spendy problems on the road for drivers.
More concrete is breaking apart. The most recent is on 32nd Avenue and 20th Street South. Hot temperatures during the day and cooler nights cause the breaks, which can be significant. Five areas that have been repaired could cost the city thousands of dollars. Mark Aubol of the Grand Forks Street Department says “A lot of times it'll make a rise in the roadway and it'll come up 2 or 3 feet even in different areas so it's something to be aware of when it's real hot out.” If you see any breaks in concrete, you are asked to call police.
