Disaster Recovery Center opens in Velva

VELVA, N.D. (AP) — State and federal officials have opened a disaster recovery center in Velva.

VELVA, N.D. (AP) — State and federal officials have opened a disaster recovery center in Velva.

The city of about 1,000 people southeast of Minot was hit hard by Souris River flooding. It shut down businesses and forced residents from their homes.

The disaster recovery center in Velva City Hall will be open daily. It will have representatives from the state Department of Emergency Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
