FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A 15-bed hospital in the Minnesota city of Wheaton officially became a part of the Sanford Health network at the beginning of the month.

All 95 staff members at the Sanford Wheaton Medical Center are now Sanford employees. Officials say no changes are expected in services except that more might be added.

Wheaton is a city of 1,600 people about 100 miles southeast of Fargo. The hospital opened in 1950 and added clinic services six years ago.

Sanford bills itself as the nation's largest not-for-profit rural health care provider. It was formed in 2009 by the merger of health systems in North Dakota and South Dakota. It is headquartered in Fargo and Sioux Falls and now serves 111 communities in eight states.
