The National Weather Service this afternoon surveyed the Meyer family farm near Mapleton where Monday night's "EF-2 TORNADO" slammed through that area of Cass County,"ripping- off" roof tops and slamming trees to the ground. The were winds estimated between 110 and 137-miles an hour.

Neighbors and family of the Meyers came to help today to clean up the destruction.

Bob Meyer – Lost home to tornado: “You could hear the house coming apart.

Bob Meyer knew trouble was brewing when he looked out his window and saw trees snapping to the ground. He headed to the basement and just in time.

Meyer: “I bet I wasn't there a minute and you could tell things were deteriorating rapidly.”

The tornado not only ripped the roof of Bob's home, but it carried it across the yard, crashing into his parent's home.

Bob: “My mom came over and checked to make sure I was okay and walked out and she said do you realize your roof is in our yard. And so I looked up and, oh, that is why it is raining in the house right now.”

Bob parents Jay and Marilyn Meyer rushed to make sure their son next door was not hurt. Debris was everywhere around them. Parts of a garage and Bob's roof scattered around the farmyard.

Jay Meyer – Tornado hit farm: “This is mother nature, I lost a building to snow earlier this year to snow, a big building, mother nature decided to pick on me this year, next year it will be better.”

Neighbors like Sonny South and his grandson Ben came along with an army of friends and family to load up and clean up the destruction.

Bob: “Lucky, grateful I am standing here today.”

A memorable 4th of July full that roared across this prairie farm.

Bob: “House is a house, it can be fixed or replaced-people can't be.”

The Weather Service says an EF-1 tornado hit a farm near Grandin causing damage to a farm there.
