Afton State Park vandalized during shutdown

AFTON, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say three buildings have been burglarized at Afton State Park, which is closed with all of Minnesota's state parks because of the government shutdown.

The Washington County sheriff's office says the buildings were burglarized before dawn Monday. It says a large amount of damage was found, and items were taken from inside the buildings.

Eleven adults and one minor were found on the grounds and taken into custody, while another person was still being sought.

The sheriff's office says potential charges include third-degree burglary and felony criminal damage to property.

Jim Konrad, head of enforcement of the Department of Natural Resources, tells the Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/qchd7j) the incident is just one of dozens that have occurred on state park property all across the state since the shutdown began Friday.
