Search Efforts Continue for Suspected Drowning in Becker Co.

Becker Co., Minn. (WDAY-TV) -- Divers will continue searching a Becker County lake this morning for a man presumed drowned after he was hit by a pontoon boat last night.

Sheriff Tim Gordon says the man jumped off the bow of the boat and was hit at about 7:30 last night on Long Lake near Detroit Lakes.

Several agencies responded to the incident, including the Becker County Dive Team, but their search was thwarted because of murky waters and waning daylight.

At the height search, Gordon says between 25 and 30 rescuers were on scene along with six boats.

Last night, crews used electronic equipment to map out the search area for today’s continued recovery efforts.

The victim’s name is not being released.
