The states congressional delegation says federal officials will expedite damage assessments as they consider whether to approve individual flood aid.
Sens. Kent Conrad and John Hoeven and Rep. Rick Berg are in Minot to survey the flooding damage.
Conrad says the white house committed to a full federal response and he placed a call to homeland security secretary Janet Napolitano.
Kent Conrad (D) North Dakota: “we asked her urgently to approve individual assistance for this community this county and for other counties across North Dakota as well because we know this flood crisis is not just here it is across so many areas of North Dakota where we've never seen water of this amount ever in recorded history”.
FEMA has committed to help with flood costs related to public infrastructure under a presidential disaster declaration for North Dakota.
