Defense tries to cast doubt in Burcham trial

Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - A lawyer for the Moorhead man accused of killing a neighbor in 1993, tried to cast doubt on his confession in court.

A Moorhead detective who questioned Clarence Burcham in 2009 was put on the stand. He told the court he was only seeking the truth about what happened on the morning of Nov. 2, 1993, when Sharon Stafford was found strangled to death in her mobile home. Burcham's Burcham is charged with first degree murder in a case with no physical proof linking him to the slaying.
