NWS: 24-hour rainfall totals in South Dakota top 5 inches

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service says 24-hour rain totals in some parts of South Dakota topped 5 inches through Tuesday morning.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service says 24-hour rain totals in some parts of South Dakota topped 5 inches through Tuesday morning.

The Weather Service's Sioux Falls office says 5.69 inches fell 3 miles northwest of Herrick, and 5.55 inches fell four miles southwest of Burke. Other high totals included Chamberlain at 3.76 inches, White Lake at 3.5 inches and Huron at 2.45 inches.

The Aberdeen office says Pierre recorded 3.38 inches of rain, and a community network spotter 10 miles east-northeast of McLaughlin reported 5.3 inches. Observers recorded 4.17 inches northwest of Gann Valley and 3.37 inches in Murdo.
