Area runners prepare for US ChampionshipsFargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A handful of current and former Bison are gearing up to compete in the US Track and Field Championships in Oregon later this week.

Among them Bison senior Christine Schmaltz, who automatically qualified for the 800 after running a personal best time of 2:02.77, the 4th fastest time in the nation this year. Schmaltz finished 9th in the event at the NCAA Championships and says she's looking forward to the big stage.
Christine Schmaltz – Will run 800 meters: “I felt good training this week and I'm coming off a P-R, so you never know what could happen. My goal was just to get there and now I'm there so I have to maybe reevaluate my goals. Most of all just wanna go out and have fun in Oregon and do my best.”
Two other notables competing in the 800,former South standout Laura Roesler, and former Bison Laura Hermanson, now Januszewski, who we'll hear from tonight at ten.
