UND President speaks out on nicknameFargo, ND (WDAY TV) - UND's president says the obvious thing to do now is retire the fighting Sioux nickname and logo, and says the entire school's reputation is at stake during the debate.

Robert Kelley issued that statement today. He says with the deadline coming so quickly, no on can afford to be silent. Kelley says the right now the University has no plans of taking legal action against the state but he hopes that Lawmakers will consider the ramifications to UND.
Robert Kelley – UND President: “People are watching us at the national level. I get calls from other presidents from across the country, not athletic conference affiliations, they want to know where we stand on this issue, because people are watching across the country.”
Kelley says he understands that state representatives want to meet with the NCAA but they have been clear on their position of the issue.
