WALHALLA, N.D. (AP) — State officials plan a meeting Tuesday about a plan to allow all-terrain vehicles in the scenic Pembina Gorge area in northeast North Dakota.

The Grand Forks Herald reports that some residents of the area are concerned about the plan, which includes 78 miles of multi-use trails that will connect with existing snowmobile trails and ultimately link the Pembina Gorge to the Turtle Mountains area.

Portions of the new trail system could be ready for use by late fall or next spring.

Tuesday's meeting is at the Frost Fire Ski and Snowboard Area and Summer Theater near Walhalla. State Parks Director Mark Zimmerman is to attend.
