Oil companies seek workers

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The effects of the oil boom in Western North Dakota are spreading to Fargo-even nationwide-as companies look for workers to fill their rigs.

CUDD Energy Services is the latest company coming to Fargo looking for workers. They say the opportunity for jobs is as abundant as the oil in the fields. Many companies are looking nationwide to fill the growing number of job openings in the oil patch.

Stan Brouillette - Director of HR, CUDD: "There are countless jobs available. I don't have the exact number, but we're going to hire as many people as we can here."

Today's job fair in Fargo is one of many that CUDD energy is holding nationwide. They're looking for hard-working, reliable people who can put up with the rigorous 21 days on, 7 days off schedule. Likewise, folks are also coming from all over the country to take advantage of the hiring boom, including Tim Angel who moved to the Moorhead from North Carolina a few weeks ago.

Tim Angel - Looking For Work:"I came out to try and find work, try to find some employment. I heard that the oil field work was good pay and work."

Locals are also attracted by the work.

Mason Krebsbach - Looking For Work: "I'm kind of new to the whole drilling thing, just looking to get my foot in the door, but I'm willing to learn and see how it goes from here, I guess."

These applicants say the notoriously good pay makes the long hours worthwhile.

"Yeah, the pay is kind of an attraction for me."

"It's good stable work and pays really well."

If you didn't make it out today, CUDD energy services will be here at the Ramada Plaza tomorrow as well. CUDD is looking to fill a variety of positions like operators, supervisors, and mechanics, and is especially interested in people with Commercial Drivers Licenses.
