Flood costs staggering for Ottertail County
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Otter Tail County has crunched the numbers, and the amount its spent on flooding over the past several years is staggering.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
County Engineer Rick West says the county has spent nearly 6 million dollars over the last 9 years on flooding. Most of the money has gone towards keeping roads dry, like Highway 10 near Elizabeth, and Highway 34 west of Perham. That amount doesn't include money spent this year, when water levels are as high as they've ever been.
Rick West - Otter Tail County Engineer: “We have to reallocate resources to keep roads open to raise the roads or through outlet type systems.”
