Today the Jamestown native made the ultimate transition, going from player to head coach.

He was hired by his Alma Mata at Nebraska. Erstad served as a volunteer assistant coach this past season after retiring earlier in 2010. Nebraska fired Mike Anderson just last week.

Erstad was a two-time all star and world champion. He was the first overall pick in the MLB draft in 1995.
