ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — St. Cloud police have arrested three men who allegedly beat another man because he was gay.

Police say the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday in the alley near D.B. Searle's bar.

Martin Sayre of the St. Cloud police department says the three suspects hurled slurs at the man and beat him.

The victim is identified as a 22-year-old from St. Louis Park. Sayre says he had cuts and bruises to his face and hands.

According to the St. Cloud Times (http://bit.ly/iuWCPl), Sayre says the charges could be enhanced from fifth-degree to fourth-degree assault because of the allegation that bias motivated the attack.

Police say the victim refused medical treatment, police said.
