Minnesota business chooses to expand in JamestownJamestown, ND (WDAY TV) - A Minnesota business owner is taking his technology business on the road. He's hoping to expand. Thanks to a trip to North Dakota, he's thinking the state has more to offer him than just hunting.
Business owner Craig Patnode opened this Eldermark office in Jamestown last August. Less than a year later, the business is expanding.
CRAIG PATNODE - Eldermark Owner: "The goal is to run this for a long time and try and be a large employer in the county."
Patnode, who runs company in Minnetonka, Minnesota, chose Jamestown as the place to expand, after he saw a billboard two years ago, promoting the town.
CRAIG PATNODE - Eldermark Owner: "Well I think one; you have to like North Dakota. I don't think its right to just move a company if you don't like it."
For Patnode, there is a lot to like.
CRAIG PATNODE - Eldermark Owner: "I strictly went up there for the labor."
Just down the street from Eldermark, sits Jamestown College.
CRAIG PATNODE - Eldermark Owner: "It's a great opportunity for the students that are coming off-line because they actually, in this market they are learning how to run a company and so they are getting valuable experience."
Experience that Patnode, hopes grow Eldermark. By the end of the year, Patnode will add 10 to 24 employees. Patnode has interviewed two people from Minneapolis trying to get back to North Dakota to work.
