FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Sanford Health officials are planning a $30 million renovation project for its downtown Fargo facility, including expansion of its cancer center.
The makeover is scheduled to begin after completion of a new $360 million medical center slated to open in southwest Fargo in 2016.
Sanford officials say the new Roger Maris Cancer Center will occupy about 200,000 square feet, more than four times the size of the current center.
Sanford spokesman Dennis Millirons told The Forum newspaper in a story published Sunday that the expansion of the cancer center will allow for more treatment and research programs.
Sanford is headquartered in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Fargo. It bills itself as the largest rural not-for-profit health care system in the nation, with a presence in 111 communities in eight states.
