Twins fans lose in battle between Fox Sports North and Cableone

Fargo, ND (WDAY Sports) - This Twins’ season hasn't started the way fans wanted. To make things worse, a large population of them hasn’t been able to watch them play because of a battle between Fox Sports North and Cableone and some are turning to a different option.

Twins win at Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park and Liriano’s no-hitter. Those were the three biggest games of the year for the Twins and Cableone subscribers in Fargo couldn't see one inning.

That's because of an ongoing dispute between Fox Sports North and the cable company, which has not picked up the additional 35 games FSN is carrying. This is making some fans turn to a different solution.

Mike Monda - Satellite Solutions: “We've had a lot of feedback saying they want to catch all the games and they've been coming in here to make sure they can do that.”

Monda started airing a radio commercial spherically aiming at fans that are blacked out and says business really picked up after Francisco Liriano's no hitter.

“We got quite a few phone calls just to test the waters, wonder how much they would have to pay.”

Cableone's General Manager Scott Geston wouldn't go on camera, but told me "Negotiations are ongoing with Fox Sports North, and does not want to threaten those talks with on-camera remarks, but there have not been many complaints over the lack of Twins games.”

The complaints may have been few now, but they may grow as the season goes along. Fans will be blacked out from games involving the Dodgers, White Sox, and three straight with the Yankees.

Some fans have their own solution.

Ron Sivrson - West Fargo Resident: “If they have options, get a new cable company or a dish or whatever provides that. Or buy a lot of Twins tickets and go to the games.”
