JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — Family members of a man found slain in a southeast North Dakota ditch say he had moved to the United States five years ago to escape violence and civil war in Somalia.

The body of 18-year-old Abdi Ali Ahmed was found near the small town of Spiritwood on Saturday. Two people face murder and conspiracy charges in his death. Authorities haven't commented on a possible motive or cause of death.

Ahmed had been living with Somali families in Jamestown. His aunt, Marian Ghedi, says he had enrolled at the local high school and hoped to join the soccer team. The Jamestown Sun reports that Ahmed has a simple assault charge on his record but the details are unclear.
